As a Church of England Voluntary Aided School we follow the Christian ‘Values for life’ programme in all that we do. This can be through acts of worship, lessons, displays or playtimes.
There are many important values for us to follow so we have used the Bible and ‘fruits of the spirit’ to help us to prioritise our values. Our 6 core values are: kindness, patience, courage, wisdom, peace and respect. Each half-term we will focus in particular on one of these values, stories will be shared in assemblies, and there will also be displays around the school.
Below you can see links made within each Christian Value across the year to verses from the Bible.
Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!
The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
Matthew 7:12 New International Version (NIV)
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,
Philippians 2:3 New International Version (NIV)
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
John 13:34-35 New International Version (NIV)
