Lockdown Spring 2021 - some helpful tips
*Remember to open google classroom in google chrome*
We are aware that many children access the work on mobile devices.
Whether you are using iOS or Android devices, it is recommended that you download the Google Classroom App from Apple’s App Store or Google’s Play Store. These apps are free.
The children will mostly complete work in Google Docs and Google Slides. These apps are also available for download and are free.
All of the work that teachers post is accessible on all devices. However, mobile devices do behave slightly differently than a desktop, laptop or even a Chromebook.
Therefore, the teachers aim to only upload, where possible, Google Docs and Google Slides for editing as it will be easier to edit these files on various devices.
Google Classroom on Kindle Fire
As google and amazon are not ‘friends’ you cannot download an app instead you use the ‘Silk Browser’ which is the amazon version of Google Chrome for accessing the web. This has a swirly circular icon which looks a bit like a marble. See here:
I would suggest opening the Silk Browser app, then going to https://classroom.google.com
It should take you to the classroom page.
The following link is a guide to opening a google classroom PDF in Dochub, allowing you to edit the document.

Scanning via Iphone or Ipad
If you need to scan work to return to school via google classroom you can use your ‘Notes App’.
Open a new note, press the camera button, the option to scan document will pop up. Once the document is scanned it is easier to upload than a photo, you can also add notes to the scanned document.
The following link is for BBC bitesize, it has a weekly timetable for the education programs that they are showing over the week, the plan is for this to be updated weekly whilst we are in Lockdown.
