Things we need to remember:

In Class R we will need our PE kits on Fridays.  We will need plimsolls or trainers.

Our topic:

This half term our topics are 'Harvest' and 'Light and Dark'. In the second half of the term our topic will be 'Festivals of Light'. We will also focus on two RE units:  'Why is the word 'God' so important to Christians?' and 'Why do Christians perform Nativity plays at Christmas?' We try to include as many of the children's interests as possible and often build these into our topics. Please use the link below to see our weekly diary for further information.

Reading:

This term the children will start to bring home reading books to read to an adult at home. They will also have some words to learn. They begin to develop their reading skills through our phonic sessions and individual reading.  We also work on developing their comprehension skills.

Writing:

This term the children start to develop their writing skills in a variety of ways, for example writing lists and labels. We encourage the children to have a go at mark making and writing familiar words such as their name. They begin to learn sounds and how to write letters through our phonic sessions.

Maths:

Our Maths activities are very practical.  They include counting objects to 10, 20 and beyond, number recognition, addition/subtraction, doubling and halving, problem solving, repeating patterns, recognition of 2D and 3D shapes and understanding measures. We also focus on problem solving and encourage the children to explain their thinking.
